Best Answer: You can not clean up RAM. Changing it will cause the programs using the data there to crash and will almost certainly result in data losses and corrupted files. A good operating system will always lad as much into RAM as it can handle and then only dump what it is no longer using when it needs to load more. This means it can retrieve recently used data from a program if that program needs to use it again, which is often the case, so it is much faster than reloading it. The whole point of RAM is fast access to currently required data. If it gets near full it will offload any data it has marked as still in use, but which is not currently being accessed to virtual memory, which is an area reserved for this on the disk. This way it can restore it when it is again needed to be used.

You can open the Terminal application (Applications Utilities Terminal) and type in the command 'purge' + press the return key. This releases most of the reserved 'inactive' RAM that is used as disk cache (the blue portion in the RAM diagram of the Activity Monitor.) It's also possible to have a Unix shell script run permanently in the background that executes this command as soon as a specified amount of inactive RAM is reached, see I used this on a 2007 MacBook with Lion and 2GB RAM, but the negative effect with this script was that the Mac slowed regularly for 3–4 seconds when purging. Moreover, applications take longer to start up Having at least 4 GB RAM and should help better than purging cache memory.
Faulty memory can cause your Mac OS X to lock up or freeze unexpectedly. If you’re willing to take the risk in adding extra memory in your Mac either to save money or perhaps you have a few lying around, it is best to run a memory test to make sure that the RAM is fully compatible and won’t make.

This tool is all about boosting your Mac! Memory Optimizer Pro is a powerful app that cleans and boosts up your RAM so that you can enjoy a speedy Mac experience. When you close an app, your Mac generally caches data to RAM for faster access on the next launch of that app. And then when you launch a memory hungry game or app, your Mac tends to lag in performance.
Memory Optimizer Pro cleans this memory that is inactive or no longer in use. This will enhance the overall performance of your Mac, letting you sift through your favorite apps and games seamlessly.
